After a series of challenges that were a bit...underwhelming (even if the sex was good), we were really looking for something to get fired up about. As the sex gods would have it, the next card was a 4 of hearts, which was our "mutual toy" challenge. We had stocked up on a few key toys for the challenge over the Christmas holiday and were really excited to try out our We Vibe II. She was as excited as she's been at any point in the challenge, looking forward and counting down to our first opportunity to try this thing out.
We had played with it out of the box when we first got it, so we were somewhat familiar with how to use it. Now, fully charged up, we were ready to play. She sometimes has trouble getting her mind wrapped around new sexual experiences, so I started off giving her a little oral and then we started penetrative sex like we normally do to get her relaxed. But I quickly realized that there's no smooth way to work something so oddly shaped into sex play. At least no way I knew. So, rather inelegantly, I stopped what I was doing to grab the thingy and the lube and started figuring it out how to make it happen.
Immediately, I sensed her tense up a little bit in nervous anticipation, which I was hoping to avoid. The first pitfall was the shape and texture of the toy itself. Its obviously built very specifically, but that shape doesn't make it terribly easy to handle. Its a silicone toy, so plenty of water-based lube is a MUST for comfortable--ahem--operation. But unfortunately silicone + lube + awkward shape = fumble. After finding the handle, we turned it on and found a setting we liked. I inserted the little end into my (at this point, downright jumpy) wife, who started cackling with laughter. Apparently it tickles a little bit. The larger end that houses the vibrator and control button rests against the pubic bone and stimulates the clitoris. At this point, second thing we learned was that it's impossible to use too much lube. If the external part isn't slick, it can play tug-of-war with pubic hair. More lube to the rescue. After a few seconds for her to get used to what she was feeling, I slowly inserted myself, not sure what to expect. I guess I expected it to be tighter, almost uncomfortable, but it felt smaller than it looks. To be honest, I would describe the feeling as a vagina with a plastic ceiling. There's no friction on the top, but the vibration I felt was surprisingly intense even though the vibrator is physically outside of her body.
As we gain some momentum, the giggling stops and the heavy breathing starts. I've read from others' reviews that missionary is the "best" position when using the We Vibe. In another moment of learning, it became apparent that the We Vibe becomes a hard obstruction against the pubic bone if its not inserted far enough to move the external part down off the pubic bone. The problem that we ran into was that when it was in deep enough to be comfortable, it didn't adequately stimulate the clitoris and there was constant adjustment to keep the external part in position during missionary. We changed positions a few times--from missionary, she rolled onto her side, then into doggystyle, then to cowgirl. All of the positions seemed, for the most part, the same; the best position for us was her on her stomach with me entering from behind. In that position, she could use the bed to hold the toy in place over her clitoris and we ended up in that position twice during the hour or so that we used the toy.
But in that hour, she wasn't able to reach orgasm, ONE TIME, which is extremely unusual. Even in the positions with the greatest stimulation, she seemed to enjoy it, but couldn't get over the top. I think the major reason was in between her ears--there was a lot of tension and even more thinking that needed to be done to figure out the most comfortable and best positions. Secondly, she felt like she couldn't "feel me" as well and the flesh-on-flesh friction was decreased significantly. Even after we took the toy out of the equation, she couldn't orgasm because she felt a little sore.
After all of that, we learned some important lessons. It's shaped funny...got it. Lots of lube...check. Watch the pubic bone trauma...piece of cake. Best positions...noted. We consider it a successful challenge, but we plan on having another go with some more knowledge and more comfort with the toy so we can just relax and have fun.
